Statement from the National Cybersecurity Center on the Appointment of Tim Kosiba as Deputy Director of the National Security Agency

The National Cybersecurity Center (NCC) congratulates Tim Kosiba on his appointment as Deputy Director of the National Security Agency. This appointment represents a significant advancement in public service, and we commend his selection for this critical national security role.

In accordance with governance standards regarding organizational independence, Mr. Kosiba has resigned from the NCC Board of Directors effective immediately.

Board Service and Contributions

Mr. Kosiba served on the NCC Board from December 2023 through January 2026, most recently as Chairman of the Governance and Risk Committee. In this capacity, he contributed to the organization’s oversight framework and supported operational accountability measures aligned with the NCC’s mission.

His board service emphasized risk management protocols, governance structures, and execution standards that support the NCC’s commitment to providing evidence-based cybersecurity guidance to the public.

Professional Background

Mr. Kosiba’s career at the National Security Agency includes service as Technical Director for the Joint Functional Component Command for Network Warfare and Technical Director for the Requirements and Targeting Office in the Tailored Access Operations organization. He was selected for the Defense Intelligence Senior Level (DISL) Service and served as Chief of the Special US Liaison Office in Canberra, Australia.

Upon his return to the United States, Mr. Kosiba served as Deputy Director of the NSA/CSS Commercial Solutions Center and was subsequently appointed Chief of Computer Network Operations. Following three years in that capacity, he was assigned as Deputy Commander of NSA Georgia, the largest NSA field location.
